Information on Erst-while KALINGA UNIVERSITY, RAIPUR, CHHATTISGARH.
Kalinga University was established in the year 2003 under Chhattisgarh Niji Vishwavidyalaya (Sthapana aur Viniyaman) Adhiniyam 2002(No.2 of 2002) at Raipur,Chhattisgarh. The University was operational till 11th February 2005, the day honorable supreme court of India gaveits famous judgment on the Private Universities of Chhattisgarh on the petition filed by Prof.Yashpal & others. As a consequence of honorable apex court order all Private Universities established at Chhattisgarh under above act became non existent. Here it is noteworthy that on the petition filed by erst-while Kalinga University at Supreme Court of India, has passed two judgments for the protection of Kalinga University’s students.
In August 2005 the Government of Chhattisgarh has enacted other Private University Act known as Chhattisgarh Private University (Establishment and Operation) Act 2005. Under this Act the Govt. of Chhattisgarh has issued LOI to us for establishing Kalinga University at New Raipur, Chhattisgarh in July 2008. The new Kalinga University got established on 25th March 2011 wide ChhattisgarhGovernment Gazette notification of 25th March 2011.
The University shall be a world class, multi-disciplinary University with students from across India and World. The University will nurture generation of Global leaders who will make significant contribution to society through their chosen discipline. The University shall integrate teaching, learning and research into a holistic learning environment that encourages scholarship.
The University campus at New Raipur is spread over more than 60 Acres of lush green land apt for the holistic development of human soul together with subject knowledge. We shall be the first private university of the state who shall dedicate a full time Engineering Faculty specially for Women. With an estimated investment of over 200 crores, the proposed University shall transform Chhattisgarh into a primary center of Knowledge in India.
